Life on the Road: remote working in a campervan

by | Sep 12, 2022 | Business, Events

If you’re anything like me, the thought of working from home has always been a bit of a dream. No commute, no office politics, no need to get dressed up or put on makeup… what’s not to love? But as great as working from home can be, there are downsides too. After a while, it can start to feel a bit monotonous and lonely. So what’s the solution? How about working from a campervan?

If you’re not familiar with the concept, “remote working” simply means doing your job from anywhere in the world that has an internet connection. And thanks to the advent of 5G, that number is only going to increase in the years to come. As for campervans, they’re the perfect way to combine freedom and flexibility with all the comforts of home. All you need is a laptop, a good internet connection, and somewhere to park your van!

So if you’re thinking of giving remote working a try, here are a few things you need to know…

1. You’ll need a good internet connection

One of the most important things you’ll need for remote working is a good internet connection. Gone are the days when you could get by with using public wifi in coffee shops or libraries; these days, you’ll need your own private connection that’s fast and reliable. That means either signing up for a mobile data plan with one of the major providers or investing in your own portable hotspot device.

2. Make sure your van is comfortable!

When you’re spending hours at a time working from your van, comfort is key. That means making sure you have enough space to set up your workspace comfortably, as well as plenty of storage for all your work-related materials. It’s also worth investing in some comfortable office furniture; after all, if you’re going to be spending most of your time in your van, you might as well make it as cozy as possible!

3. You’ll need to find somewhere to park

Depending on where you live, finding somewhere to park your van overnight can be one of the biggest challenges of living and working on the road. In some cities, there are designated “vanlife” parking areas where you can stay for a fee; in others, you may have to get creative and find your own spot (just make sure you’re not breaking any local laws!). One option is to look for long-term parking at truck stops or rest areas; another is to find an RV park or campground that allows monthly rentals. Whichever option you choose, just make sure you do your research first so you know what to expect!

4. Make sure your insurance is up to date!

This one goes without saying, but it’s important to make sure your insurance is up to date before hitting the road! Whether you’re already insured through your employer or need to purchase your own policy, just make sure you’ve got coverage for both yourself and your van before setting off on your adventure!

5. Expect occasional challenges—but don’t let them stop you!

Like anything in life, living and working on the road comes with its fair share of challenges. There will be days when finding somewhere to park is tough and days when it feels like everyone but you knows how to fix a broken down van. But don’t let those challenges stop you from pursuing your dreams! These challenges are all part of the journey and part of what makes life on the road so special. So go out there and explore—the world (and your van) is waiting for you!

Conclusion

Living and working on the road has its challenges—but it’s also an incredibly rewarding experience! If you’re thinking about giving it a try, make sure you’ve got a good internet connection, a comfortable van ,and plenty of insurance . Then hit the open road and see where it takes you! Who knows—you might just fall in love with this nomadic lifestyle . Thanks for reading , I hope this was helpful information if not leave comments below ! 🙂
